Pretty River Valley Provincial Park | Ontario

Pretty River Valley Provincial Park is a 1,099 hectare natural environment park on the Niagara Escarpment, 83 kilometres southeast of Owen Sound. Ontario Parks lists the park as established in 1985 and gives a physical address on Pretty River Road in Nottawa.

The park has provincially significant geological features related to glacial and post-glacial processes along one of the highest points of the Niagara Escarpment. Features include meltwater channels, moraine, and talus slopes.

Why Visit Pretty River Valley Provincial Park

Pretty River Valley is a strong page for hikers, geology-focused visitors, and Niagara Escarpment planners. Ontario Parks says more than 400 species of vascular plants have been identified in the park.

The park area is without facilities and camping is not permitted, but visitors may enjoy hiking, nature appreciation, fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling on designated OFSC trails. The Bruce Trail passes through the park.

The reserve is also part of the Niagara Escarpment Parks system and the Niagara Biosphere Reserve. Ontario Parks asks visitors to respect natural features because they are sensitive and easily damaged.

The route directions from Highway 4 through County Road 2 and County Road 31 make access planning part of the visit.

Things To Do

Plan around Bruce Trail hiking, nature appreciation, fishing regulation checks, cross-country skiing, designated snowmobile routes, meltwater channel and moraine study, talus slope awareness, and plant diversity.

Planning Notes

Confirm access, maps, no-facility expectations, camping prohibition, Bruce Trail routing, OFSC trail status, weather, alerts, sensitive feature guidance, and park rules through Ontario Parks.
