Presqu'ile Provincial Park | Ontario

Presqu'ile Provincial Park is a Lake Ontario park near Brighton with beaches, campgrounds, trails, marsh, bird migration, visitor centres, and lighthouse history. Ontario Parks lists the park at 982 hectares, established in 1922, and classifies it as a natural environment park.

The park is especially strong for birders and shoulder-season visitors. Ontario Parks notes 338 bird species recorded, 130 breeding species, world-class spring migration, waterfowl in March, and warblers and shorebirds in May.

Why Visit Presqu'ile Provincial Park

Presqu'ile is a good fit for travellers who want a compact but varied Lake Ontario park. You can plan around a 2.5 km sandy beach, more than 300 car camping sites, 16 km of trails and paths, the marsh boardwalk, visitor centres, interpretive programs, and the second oldest operating lighthouse in Ontario.

It also works beyond summer because Ontario Parks lists year-round day use and winter exploration. That makes it useful for birding, quiet walking, photography, and off-season trips, not only beach days.

Things To Do

Plan around camping, beach time, swimming when conditions allow, birding, the marsh boardwalk, shoreline trails, woodland and meadow paths, visitor centres, summer interpretive programs, lighthouse history, cycling, paddling or boating where appropriate, and winter walks.

Dogs are not allowed on the sandy beach at any time, so pet planning should be checked before arrival.

Planning Notes

Ontario Parks lists Presqu'ile day use from January 1 to December 31, 2026, and camping and roofed accommodation from April 24 to October 26, 2026. Confirm beach rules, dog restrictions, birding conditions, campsite reservations, alerts, facility hours, trail access, and park rules through the official Ontario Parks source before travelling.
