Daisy Lake Uplands Provincial Park | Ontario

Daisy Lake Uplands Provincial Park is a nature reserve on the Sudbury Highway 17 bypass. Ontario Parks lists the park at 600 hectares, established in 2006.

The official page says there are no facilities for park visitors and camping is not permitted. Protection and recovery of the park environment are fundamental to management.

Why Visit Daisy Lake Uplands Provincial Park

Ontario Parks ties Daisy Lake Uplands to Sudburys ecological recovery story. Early logging, forest fires, and a century of mining activity produced black, scarred, barren rock, denuded forests, and acidified lakes and streams in the Sudbury area.

Over the past 30 years, many people have worked to bring about Sudburys ecological rebirth. The park protects recovering ecosystems including young white birches, grasses, sedges, rock barrens, and acid-tolerant bog vegetation.

Ontario Parks says the park represents the larger Sudbury landscape disturbed by more than 100 years of pollution from nickel smelting and near-urban development. It is fragmented by Highway 17 in the west and the Canadian Pacific Railway in the east, and is an important research area related to ongoing regreening.

That makes the park more useful as a recovery and research landscape than as a recreation destination. The no-camping and no-facility notes should stay visible for anyone comparing it with nearby parks that do support visitor services.

Things To Do

Plan around official research, ecological recovery learning, regreening context, observing recovering vegetation where appropriate, and using nearby serviced parks for recreation.

Planning Notes

Confirm access, maps, no-camping rules, no-facility expectations, research and recovery sensitivity, alerts, parking or roadside constraints, seasonal conditions, and park rules through the official Ontario Parks source before travelling.
