Roblin is a Parkland community in Manitoba’s Parkland Region, near the Saskatchewan boundary and between larger outdoor landscapes. It sits by Goose Lake and Krosney Lake, with Lake of the Prairies, Duck Mountain and Asessippi-area recreation all close enough to shape local travel.
The town is practical and outdoors-facing. Travellers use Roblin for supplies, trails, local food, events, lake access and a quieter base than the larger highway centres to the east and west.
How Roblin Started
Roblin grew from late 19th-century settlement in western Manitoba. Early European settlers were mainly ranchers and grain farmers, and the community was first associated with the Goose Lake name. The arrival of railway service in the early 1900s helped bring more farming families, including Eastern European settlers, into the district.
The community took the name Roblin in honour of Manitoba Premier Rodmond Palen Roblin. A post office, village government and local businesses gave the settlement a permanent centre, and Roblin later became a town before modern municipal restructuring placed it within the current Municipality of Roblin.
Agriculture, forestry, rail service, schools and local services all shaped the town. The nearby lakes and hills then added a recreation layer that continues to define how visitors use the area.
What Roblin Is Like Today
Roblin had about 1,709 residents in the 2021 census. It is now the urban centre of a municipality that provides administration, roads, public works, recreation, education, health care contacts and emergency services for a wider area.
The municipality describes Roblin as close to Duck Mountain and Asessippi Provincial Parks, Lake of the Prairies beaches and boat launches, and local trails including the Crocus Trail. In town, visitors find a library, schools, health services, pool, arena, curling rink, community centre, parks and local businesses.
The compact town centre also makes it easy to combine errands, trail time and a short lake drive in one day.

Start in town with the Crocus Trail, Currey Park, the pool or the arena area depending on the season. Roblin’s local recreation spaces are part of daily life, so they give a better read on the community than a quick highway stop.
Lake of the Prairies is a major nearby draw for fishing, boating and cottage-country drives. Goose Lake and Krosney Lake keep water close to town, while Duck Mountain and Asessippi add hills, forest, wildlife, skiing and snow-season options. Roblin is a good base when the trip is about the Parkland landscape rather than one single attraction.
