Winfield, British Columbia, is a charming neighbourhood nestled within the District Municipality of Lake Country. This community, which shares its northern boundary with the city of Kelowna, is one of the four wards of Lake Country. Winfield's location, slightly to the north and east of Kelowna along Highway 97, places it in the heart of the Okanagan region.

Winfield, British Columbia: A Community Steeped in History

Winfield's history dates back to when it was known as Alvaston. The community was renamed Winfield after Winfield Lodge, the home of Thomas Wood, a justice of the peace and rancher who settled in the area in 1871.

In 1968, Winfield and district minor hockey was founded, coinciding with the opening of a new arena. The 1960s also saw the establishment of Winfield Foods, which later became IGA in 1972. This was the only grocery store in Winfield until Save on Foods opened in 1999 as part of the Winfield Commons project.

In 1995, Winfield, along with neighbouring communities of Oyama, Carr's Landing, and Okanagan Centre, was incorporated into the District Municipality of Lake Country.
