Swan Lake Park is a small lakeshore park 35 kilometres southeast of Dawson Creek, reached by a two-kilometre gravel access road off Highway 2. BC Parks describes boating, swimming, a grassy campground, day-use area, baseball diamonds, and a playground.
Established in 1918, it is British Columbia’s third oldest park.
Why Visit Swan Lake Park
Swan Lake is a family-friendly Peace Region campground with easy lake recreation. Visitors can swim without lifeguards, paddle, fish, waterski, windsurf, walk developed trails, and use the campground and day-use lawns.
The lake and surrounding vegetation also support wildlife viewing. BC Parks notes boreal white and black spruce vegetation, trembling aspen, balsam poplar, white spruce, willows, black bears, beaver, muskrat, moose, deer, and many waterfowl and migratory birds. Anglers fish for walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, and burbot; the lake is too shallow and warm for trout or char.

Camp, swim, canoe, kayak, fish with the proper licence, waterski, windsurf, birdwatch, walk designated trails, cycle on roadways, and use the playground and day-use area.
Planning Notes
Off-road vehicles, including ATVs, off-road motorcycles, snowmobiles, and side-by-sides, are prohibited. Pets must be leashed and kept out of beach areas and park buildings. E-bikes are not allowed on trails and are restricted to park roads and motorized-use areas. Watch for motorized boats while paddling, and stay on designated trails because shortcutting damages plants and soil. Reserve camping or picnic shelters ahead during busy periods, and bring your own boat or board because rentals are not available nearby.
