Plan Swan Creek Protected Area near Terrace with Copper River Forest Service Road access, waterfall views, salmon and steelhead fishing, hunting, and no facilities.

Swan Creek Protected Area is near Terrace, on the south side of the Zymoetz or Copper River and the Copper River Forest Service Road around the 30 to 31 kilometre markers. BC Parks says it protects a small, steep, unlogged watershed in the Nass Mountain Range Ecosection.

There are no facilities, trails, or designated campsites.

Why Visit Swan Creek Protected Area

Swan Creek is a conservation-focused stop for travellers already using the Copper River Forest Service Road. The protected area provides a viewscape for anglers on the Zymoetz River, including a waterfall that can be seen from the road or the Copper River.

BC Parks notes old-growth western hemlock, mountain hemlock, western red cedar, and subalpine fir, plus habitat for furbearers and waterfowl. Beavers, river otters, moose, and waterfowl may be present along waterways beside the forest service road.

Things To Do

View the waterfall from safe roadside or river viewpoints, fish for salmon and steelhead in the adjacent Zymoetz River with the proper licence, and hunt during open seasons where regulations allow.

Planning Notes

Drive cautiously on Copper River Forest Service Road because rocks, wildlife, logging trucks, heavy machinery, and other industrial traffic may be present. Horses are not allowed in the protected area. There are no trails or campsites, so do not treat the area as a developed destination. Use topographic map sheet 103 I/8, carry emergency supplies, and confirm current fishing and hunting regulations before travelling. Keep viewing to safe pullouts and do not block industrial road traffic.
