Plan Squitty Bay Park on Lasqueti Island with rocky headlands, picnic tables, public dock access, paddling, fishing, scuba diving, no camping, and boat hazards.

Squitty Bay Park is at the eastern end of Lasqueti Island, between central Vancouver Island and Texada Island. BC Parks describes a rocky point enclosing a small bay near the southeast tip of the island, with arid terrain, rocky headlands, picnic tables, pit toilets, and a public dock.

Camping is not allowed in this small coastal park.

Why Visit Squitty Bay Park

Squitty Bay is a quiet Lasqueti Island stop for picnicking, headland walking, marine views, and low-key shoreline exploring. From the headland, BC Parks notes views east toward Mount Baker and west toward the Comox Valley and Comox Glacier.

The park also protects unusual coastal vegetation. BC Parks highlights ground-hugging prickly pear cactus, Rocky Mountain juniper well away from its usual montane habitat, high coastal cliffs, and blue-listed California hedge parsley.

Things To Do

Picnic, walk carefully on the headland, swim in the ocean without a designated swimming area or lifeguards, canoe or kayak, fish tidal waters with the proper licence, scuba dive in cold water, and cycle only on roadways.

Planning Notes

There is no vehicle ferry to Lasqueti Island. Passenger ferry service runs to False Bay from French Creek, and bicycles, canoes, and kayaks can be carried for an extra fee. Bring drinking water and a portable stove because potable water and campfires are not available. Several rocks obstruct the bay entrance, the safest boat passage is along the south shore, manoeuvring room is limited, and the federal dock can be crowded. Keep pets leashed and under control around the rocky shoreline. Plan a dry bag and self-rescue gear for paddling.
