Soap Lake Ecological Reserve is on the Nicomen Plateau, three kilometres south-southeast of Spences Bridge. BC Parks says it was established to conserve an alkaline lake, associated flora and fauna, and representative ecosystems of the Interior Douglas-fir Zone.
The reserve supports research and education rather than ordinary recreation.

Soap Lake is a dry interior ecological reserve focused on lake chemistry, plants, wildlife, and forest-zone representation. BC Parks allows non-destructive public activities such as hiking, nature observation, and photography, while prohibiting hunting, fishing, camping, foraging, and motorized vehicles.

Walk carefully where access and conditions allow, observe the alkaline lake and surrounding dry forest ecosystems, photograph natural features, and use official information for learning. Do not camp, hunt, fish, forage, collect, or drive motorized vehicles in the reserve.
