Plan Silver Lake Park south of Hope with campground access, lakeshore swimming, fishing, paddling, Skagit Valley mountain views, and no powerboat use.

Silver Lake Park is 12 kilometres south of Hope on Silver-Skagit Road, above a small, lake-fed marsh. BC Parks describes a small, largely undeveloped campground and day-use area set against mountain slopes and glacier views.

The park was established in 1961 and is on a historical First Nations travel route linking the upper Skagit Valley with the lower Fraser River.

Why Visit Silver Lake Park

Silver Lake is a quieter Lower Mainland camping and lake stop. BC Parks highlights swimming, fishing, canoeing, nature study, and mountain scenery, with a campground that serves as a good staging point for Skagit Valley Park trips.

The lake is the focus. Visitors can swim from the beach near the boat launch, canoe or kayak the shoreline, or fish for rainbow and steelhead trout. The surrounding marsh and forest add wildlife-viewing potential, while the mountain views make the park feel more remote than its distance from Hope suggests.

Things To Do

Camp, swim without lifeguards, canoe, kayak, fish with the correct freshwater licence, watch wildlife, picnic, study the lake-fed marsh, and use the park as a base before continuing toward Skagit Valley recreation.

Planning Notes

Powerboat use is prohibited on Silver Lake, and there are no lifeguards. Access is by the paved Flood-Hope Road from Exit 168 off Highway 1, then Silver-Skagit Road. Pets must be leashed and kept out of beach areas and park buildings. E-bikes are not allowed on trails and are limited to roads or motorized-use areas. Check campground status before relying on an overnight stop.
