Plan Shuswap Lake Park at Scotch Creek with camping, a 1 km beach, Copper Island trail, boat launch, swimming, paddling, fishing, biking, and quiet hours.

Shuswap Lake Park is on the north shore of Shuswap Lake’s main arm at the old delta of Scotch Creek. BC Parks says the park includes one kilometre of sandy, pebble beach, a large grassy play area, an adventure playground, a large boat launch, a self-guiding nature trail, and all of Copper Island.

The park is very popular and operates at capacity from early July to Labour Day.

Why Visit Shuswap Lake Park

Shuswap Lake Park is a busy summer campground and beach base. Visitors use the marked swimming area, walking and biking trails, lake paddling, fishing, and nearby local recreation services. Copper Island sits 1.3 kilometres offshore and has a 2.8-kilometre hiking trail with views, though it is accessible only by boat.

The park also offers interpretive programs during July and August and a Learn to Fish program for youth when available through the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC.

Things To Do

Camp, swim from the beach, snorkel, paddle, kayak, fish for lake trout, rainbow trout, bull trout, kokanee, burbot, and whitefish with the proper licence, walk the self-guiding trail, bike only on permitted paths, visit Copper Island by boat, waterski, windsurf, and snowshoe or cross-country ski on unmaintained trails in winter.

Planning Notes

Leave Highway 1 at Squilax and drive 19 kilometres on paved roads. Copper Island has no overnight camping, houseboat camping, or campfires. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 7 am, generator use is limited to 9 am to 11 am and 6 pm to 8 pm, and the park speed limit is 20 kilometres per hour.
