Plan Shuswap Lake Marine Park with 23 lake sites, boating, wilderness camping, swimming, fishing, watersports, diving, quiet hours, and houseboat rules.

Shuswap Lake Marine Park is spread around the perimeter of Shuswap Lake. BC Parks says it is made up of 23 sites, with some road-accessible locations but most sites reached only by water.

The lake has four large arms: Shuswap Lake Main Arm, Seymour Arm, Anstey Arm, and Salmon Arm, all meeting at Cinnemousun Narrows.

Why Visit Shuswap Lake Marine Park

This is a boating and lake-camping system rather than a single campground. Facilities vary widely, from no services to three or four wilderness tenting sites with a pit toilet. Many sites are popular for fishing and water sports, while hiking and nature study are available at some locations.

BC Parks notes that Shuswap Lake contains 19 fish species and offers fishing for rainbow, lake and bull trout, kokanee, burbot, and whitefish. Launches are available at nearby Shuswap Lake, Herald, and Mara parks, as well as private marinas and communities around the lake.

Things To Do

Boat between sites, camp where facilities allow, swim cautiously, canoe, fish with the correct licence, waterski or windsurf under Canadian Coast Guard rules, scuba dive or snorkel with local guidance, hike at suitable sites, and hunt during open seasons where regulations permit.

Planning Notes

Many locations lack designated swimming areas or protected beaches. Watch for buoys marking divers, safe anchorage, or no-boat swimming areas. Remove weeds from boats and motors to reduce Eurasian water milfoil spread. Quiet time is 10 pm to 7 am, firewood must be purchased rather than gathered, and houseboats must follow dock and beaching rules.
