Plan Shannon Falls Park near Squamish with a 335 m waterfall, easy creek trail, viewing platforms, picnicking, Stawamus Chief access, climbing, and winter cautions.

Shannon Falls Park is directly beside Highway 99, 58 kilometres north of Vancouver and two kilometres south of Squamish. BC Parks says it is a popular day-use park for picnicking, hiking, waterfall viewing, and access to the well-known trail in Stawamus Chief Park.

The falls rise 335 metres above Highway 99, making them the third-highest falls in British Columbia.

Why Visit Shannon Falls Park

Shannon Falls is one of the easiest major waterfall stops on the Sea to Sky corridor. BC Parks traces the water to Mount Habrich and Mount Sky Pilot, then sends visitors along an easy 350-metre walking trail beside Shannon Creek through western hemlock, Douglas fir, and western red cedar to a strong view of the falls.

The park also has viewing platforms, a small concession and information centre, flush toilets nearby, summer Discover Parks Ambassador programming, and adjacent access to Stawamus Chief Park.

Things To Do

Walk the creek trail, picnic, use the viewing platforms, join summer interpretive programming, cycle where permitted, and plan climbing if you understand that there are climbing opportunities, including multi-pitch and bolted routes, but no designated trails to climbing routes.

Planning Notes

Stay on trails and within viewing areas. BC Parks warns that rocks and river edges are extremely slippery, and heavy rain can suddenly increase creek flow and carry debris. Wading or climbing on rocks and debris is dangerous. Winter trail and stair treads may be slippery, falling ice is possible, and services are reduced. E-bikes are not allowed on trails.
