Plan Sargeant Bay Park near Sechelt with wetland viewing, boardwalk access, Triangle Lake Trail, swimming, paddling, beach walks, and pet rules.
Sargeant Bay Park is on the Sunshine Coast near Sechelt, about 45 kilometres northwest of Gibsons and 8 kilometres west of Sechelt. BC Parks describes it as a preserve of forest, wetland, lake, and ocean shore reached from Redrooffs Road and Smith Road.
The park is known for wetland viewing and low-key coastal recreation.
Why Visit Sargeant Bay Park
Sargeant Bay combines several landscapes in one compact park. The Sargeant Bay Society helped enhance the wetland for wildlife viewing, and BC Parks lists a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk and viewing platform for observing the marshy habitat.
The easy Triangle Lake Trail climbs through forested slopes and offers views, while Triangle Lake supports swimming, paddling, and fishing. On the ocean side, the beach is gravel, cobblestone, and boulders with driftwood and open bay scenery.
BC Parks cautions that ocean swimming is not recommended because of an oyster farm and boat traffic, so the lake and shoreline have different risk profiles.
Things To Do
Watch wildlife from the boardwalk, walk the Triangle Lake Trail, swim or paddle at Triangle Lake, fish where regulations allow, photograph the ocean shore, and spend time on the driftwood beach without entering private lands.
Planning Notes
There are no designated swimming areas or lifeguards. Respect private-property boundaries around Triangle Lake. Pets must be leashed and kept out of beach areas and park buildings, and e-bikes are not allowed on trails. Check current advisories before visiting, use the accessible wetland structures gently, and leave wildlife, wetland vegetation, and shoreline features undisturbed.
