Plan Rosewall Creek Park near Fanny Bay with creekside picnics, fall maple colour, swimming pools, fishing closures, uneven trails, flood cautions, and e-bike rules.

Rosewall Creek Park is about three kilometres south of Fanny Bay in the Comox Valley on central Vancouver Island. BC Parks says it can be reached from the Cook Creek interchange off Highway 19 or Highway 19A.

This small day-use park sits along Rosewall Creek.

BC Parks says the park is about two kilometres from the Cook Creek interchange.

Why Visit Rosewall Creek Park

Rosewall Creek is a quiet picnic and creekside stop, especially in fall when broadleaf maples add colour for photographers. The park has two picnic areas on opposite sides of the creek, connected by a short riverside trail, with two picnic tables overlooking the water on one side.

The park protects Coastal Western Hemlock forest, bigleaf maple trees, and Rosewall Creek, a coho salmon spawning stream. BC Parks also notes a small contribution to representation of the Nanaimo Lowlands Ecosection.

The picnic site was dedicated to Lieutenant Ian MacDonald, and the park was established in 1956.

Things To Do

Picnic beside the creek, photograph fall maple colour, swim in river pools during summer low-water periods when conditions are safe, fish under current federal and provincial regulations, and cycle only on roadways.

Planning Notes

The trail has been listed as closed because of flood damage and unsafe conditions, so check current advisories before relying on it. Trail surfaces can be uneven, and water levels may rise during snowmelt or heavy rain. The river is subject to spot fishing closures. Pets must be leashed, and e-bikes are not allowed on trails.

Because this is day-use only, do not plan on camping at the creek.
