Plan Rolley Lake Park near Mission with 64 campsites, warm-water swimming, short trails, paddling, trout fishing, marsh wildlife viewing, and no motors.
Rolley Lake Park is 23 kilometres northwest of Mission and less than an hour from Vancouver. BC Parks describes a mostly flat, forested park with tall second-growth conifers and a small warm-water lake.
The park has 64 campsites tucked into the trees just minutes from the lakeshore.
Rolley Lake was named for James and Fanny Rolley, who homesteaded on its shores in 1888.
Why Visit Rolley Lake Park
Rolley Lake is a convenient Lower Mainland escape for camping, picnicking, swimming, paddling, fishing, and short walks. Two brief trails keep the park easy to explore: the Lakeside Loop takes about 40 minutes return, and the Rolley Falls trail takes about 10 minutes.
The day-use area has a sandy beach and seasonal roped-off swimming area. Canoeing and kayaking are welcome, though rentals are not available in the park. Rolley Lake is stocked with coastal cutthroat trout and rainbow trout, and a wooden boardwalk crossing the marsh at the southwest end of the lake provides wildlife viewing.
BC Parks also notes that the west end of Rolley Lake supports a fen with sedges, coarse grasses, and aquatic vegetation.
Things To Do
Reserve a campsite, walk the Lakeside Loop and Rolley Falls trails, swim without lifeguards, canoe or kayak without a motor, fish with the proper licence, watch wildlife from the boardwalk, and cycle only on roadways.
Planning Notes
No powerboats or motorized craft are permitted on the lake, including electric motors. Pets must be leashed no longer than two metres and are not allowed in the day-use beach, picnic area, or park buildings. E-bikes are not allowed on trails and are restricted to park roads and motorized-use areas.
