Plan Rendezvous Island South Park by boat with BC Marine Trail camps, Discovery Islands paddling, salmon fishing, swimming, diving, charts, and wilderness notes.

Rendezvous Island South Park protects the southernmost island in the Rendezvous Island group, between the north end of Read and Cortes Islands in Calm Channel. BC Parks says access is by boat only.

Boaters can reference marine charts 3539 and 3541 for this Discovery Islands area.

The closest communities listed by BC Parks are Quadra Island, Cortes Island, and Campbell River.

Why Visit Rendezvous Island South Park

This undeveloped marine wilderness park is part of the BC Marine Trail Association network of campsites, resting areas, and safe havens cared for by recreational boaters and paddlers. The larger marine trail is intended to connect Vancouver, Prince Rupert, and Puget Sound.

The park is surrounded by old-growth temperate rainforest, abundant wildlife, and views toward Bute Inlet, Toba Inlet, and the Coast Mountains. BC Parks describes the surrounding waters as some of the finest salmon fishing waters in British Columbia and lists boating, hiking, diving, sea kayaking, wildlife viewing, swimming, canoeing, and fishing.

Because the park is undeveloped, visitors should expect a wilderness stop rather than a serviced dock or campground.

Things To Do

Arrive by boat, paddle around the Discovery Islands, swim without a designated swimming area or lifeguards, fish under provincial and federal regulations, scuba dive if equipped, hike carefully in undeveloped terrain, and use the park as a marine trail stop.

Planning Notes

Plan as a self-sufficient marine visitor. Check current advisories, marine weather, charts, and fishing regulations before travelling. Nearby communities include Quadra Island, Cortes Island, and Campbell River, where paddlers may find commercial rentals, kayak tours, and eco-tourism lodges.
