Plan Prudhomme Lake Park east of Prince Rupert with forested lakefront camping, swimming, paddling, fishing, salmon season notes, and pet rules.

Prudhomme Lake Park is a small forested lakefront campground in the Skeena West region, 16 kilometres east of Prince Rupert on Highway 16. BC Parks also points visitors toward nearby Diana Lake Park for day-use activities.

The park works well as a compact north coast camping base with water access close to the highway. The BC Parks page includes a campground map and frontcountry camping reservation information for trip planning.

Why Visit Prudhomme Lake Park

Prudhomme Lake Park offers simple lake camping near Prince Rupert without requiring a long side trip from Highway 16. BC Parks lists swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing opportunities, making it useful for travellers who want an overnight stop with quiet water nearby.

The surrounding lakes and creeks support five species of Pacific salmon as well as Dolly Varden. BC Parks notes that salmon spawning occurs in Diana Creek during August and September, and that black-tailed deer can be found in the Diana Creek Falls area about one kilometre southwest of Prudhomme Lake. A nature trail through lush coastal rainforest is nearby at Diana Lake Park.

Things To Do

Camp at the lakefront campground, swim without a designated swimming area or lifeguards, paddle by canoe or kayak, fish with the proper licence and current regulations, and add a Diana Lake Park rainforest walk to a longer visit.

Planning Notes

Check frontcountry camping reservation details before travelling. Pets must be leashed and kept out of beach areas and park buildings. There are no lifeguards in BC Parks. Anglers should review current regulations, especially during salmon season in nearby creeks.
