Porpoise Bay Park is at the southern end of Sechelt Inlet on the Sunshine Coast, four kilometres north of Sechelt off Highway 101. BC Parks describes it as a favourite family park with second-growth forest, open grassy areas, sandy beaches, and coastal recreation.

Vehicle access is by Sechelt Inlet Road northeast of Sechelt.

Why Visit Porpoise Bay Park

Porpoise Bay is a practical basecamp for Sunshine Coast camping, swimming, hiking, wildlife viewing, and paddling on Sechelt Inlet. The park is separated from the Strait of Georgia by the isthmus at Sechelt, creating a sheltered coastal setting.

Trails beside Angus Creek lead through lush forest, across a bridge, and toward mudflats where waterfowl and shorebirds can be observed. Harbour seals and bald eagles may be seen year-round. The park is also used by paddlers exploring Sechelt Inlet, with kayak and canoe rentals outside the park in Tuwanek and calmer conditions often in the early morning or late afternoon.

Things To Do

Camp, swim without lifeguards, walk Angus Creek trails, watch birds and wildlife from a respectful distance, canoe or kayak, use the cyclist campsite for paddling trips, fish with a licence where appropriate, and cycle only on roadways.

Planning Notes

Generator use is allowed only 9 am to 11 am and 6 pm to 8 pm. A clean-air policy restricts campfires to three communal sites, not individual campsites. July and August reservations are recommended. Cash is the only accepted payment method. Pets must be leashed and kept out of beach areas and buildings.
