Otter Lake Park | British Columbia

Otter Lake Park is 33 kilometres northwest of Princeton off Highway 5A toward Coalmont and Tulameen. BC Parks says the park has two locations: a main picnic and day-use area in Tulameen and a lakeside campground about five kilometres farther north.

The Cascade Mountain Range surrounds the park with canyons, clear streams, and rugged terrain.

Why Visit Otter Lake Park

Otter Lake is an old-fashioned camping and lake recreation park. The campground is a base for exploring Tulameen mining history, while the day-use area and campground provide access to swimming, paddling, fishing, wildlife viewing, and lake scenery.

A small beach at the campground boat launch allows swimming, though BC Parks says swimming is better at the day-use area in Tulameen. Canoeing and kayaking are allowed, and the narrow lake is well suited to non-motorized shoreline exploration. Otter Lake is stocked with rainbow trout fry by the Summerland Trout Hatchery and also offers ice fishing. Waterskiing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, and scuba diving are listed activities, and motorized use occurs on the lake.

Things To Do

Camp, picnic, swim without lifeguards, canoe, kayak, fish or ice fish with a licence, waterski, windsurf, kiteboard, scuba dive, walk the nature trail, view the Trans Canada Trail across the lake, and watch for birds, waterfowl, deer, and bear.

Planning Notes

Avoid unreliable secondary forestry-road routes from the Lower Mainland. Roads are narrow and winding with limited visibility, so yield to logging trucks. Off-road ATV use is prohibited. Carry a compass off main routes, use sun protection, and use caution at fast streams.
