Nuntsi Park is northeast of Chilko Lake on the Chilcotin Plateau. BC Parks says the park was established to protect valuable moose habitat and encompasses abundant wetlands and small lakes.
The park is south of the junction of the Taseko and Chilko rivers, centred on Nuntsi Creek, and extends from headwaters near Britanny Lake to the canyon of the Taseko River.
Nuntsi is a wilderness conservation park, not a casual recreation stop. BC Parks warns that it is not regularly patrolled and was not established with recreation as a primary goal. Visitors must be experienced with bush navigation in forested areas with few topographic features and must be completely self-sufficient.
The park recognizes activities that were present before its creation and remain permitted today, including hunting, trapping, and cattle grazing. Fishing, horseback riding, and hunting are listed activities, though horseback trails are neither marked nor maintained. The park lies in the traditional territory of the Tsilhqot'in First Nation, and it is an offence to disturb or remove anything from cultural heritage sites.
Navigate wilderness terrain if qualified, fish with the proper licence, hunt during open seasons, ride horseback on unmarked and unmaintained routes, observe wetlands and small lakes, and watch for moose, bears, wolves, cougar, waterfowl, and furbearers.
Bring maps, compass or GPS, emergency communications, food, water treatment, and shelter. Topographic maps 92 O/12 and 92 O/13 include the park land, though the boundary is not shown. Pets must be leashed, and backcountry areas are not suitable for dogs.
