Norbury Lake Park | British Columbia

Norbury Lake Park is just south of Fort Steele near Cranbrook. BC Parks says the park encompasses Peckham's Lake and fronts on Norbury Lake, with the Steeples of the Hughes Range visible to the east.

The park offers beach areas, water sports, pleasant walking trails, and rainbow trout fishing in Peckham's Lake.

This makes it a compact stop for lake time, campground routines, and scenery.

Why Visit Norbury Lake Park

Norbury Lake is a practical Kootenay camping and lake stop for families, paddlers, anglers, and travellers between Highway 3 and Highway 93/95. It is located 18 kilometres north from Highway 3 and 16 kilometres south from Highway 93/95.

Visitors can swim, hike designated trails, launch non-motorized boats, fish with the proper licence, and cycle on roadways. The Kootenay Fish Hatchery at Wardner is a short distance away. The park also has local history: Norbury and Peckham's lakes were once both named Norbury, commemorating F. Paget Norbury, who ranched in the area and was a magistrate at Fort Steele.

Things To Do

Camp, walk designated trails, swim without lifeguards, canoe or kayak from the non-motorized boat launch, fish for rainbow trout, cycle on roads, look for elk, deer, bighorn sheep, and birds, and enjoy views toward the Steeples.

Planning Notes

Powerboats are prohibited. Pets are allowed on the north end of Peckham's Lake where signed and must remain leashed. E-bikes are not allowed on trails and are restricted to roads or motorized-use areas. Stay on trails, bring fishing licences, and follow campground reservation rules.
