Niskonlith Lake Park | British Columbia

Niskonlith Lake Park is northwest of Highway 1 at Chase, reached by eight kilometres of gravel road. BC Parks says the park offers rustic camping and is popular for swimming, fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, scuba diving, ice fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.

The closest communities include Chase, Scotch Creek, Sorrento, Salmon Arm, and Kamloops.

The approach is part of the trip, with the gravel road climbing into a quieter lake setting.

Why Visit Niskonlith Lake Park

Niskonlith Lake is a self-sufficient camping and lake recreation stop in the Thompson region. Fishing is popular for kokanee and rainbow trout, and the lake is also popular with beginner divers. A climb out of the valley along Niskonlith Lake Road provides views of Chase, the Thompson Valley, and Little Shuswap Lake.

Facilities are limited, and only small car-top boats can be launched at the park site. Winter trails can be suitable for skiing and snowshoeing, but they are not maintained and winter road access to the park entrance is limited. The park was established in 1975.

Things To Do

Camp, swim without lifeguards, paddle, fish with a licence, windsurf, scuba dive, ice fish, ski or snowshoe in winter, cycle on roads only, and enjoy Thompson Valley viewpoints on the approach.

Planning Notes

Be self-sufficient and bring supplies. There is no designated swimming area, the nearest public telephone is in Chase, pets must be leashed, e-bikes are not allowed on trails, and boaters should remove all weeds from boats and motors to help prevent Eurasian watermilfoil spread.
