Moyie Lake Park is 20 kilometres south of Cranbrook off Highway 3/95. BC Parks says its day-use area, boat launch, and 111-site campground provide the only public access to the deep blue mountain waters of Moyie Lake.
The park has 1,300 metres of developed sandy beach backed by a large grassy area, plus an adventure playground and hot showers.
Moyie Lake is a vacation-friendly East Kootenay park for camping, swimming, boating, fishing, and family beach time. Canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, and sailing are popular on the lake, and Moyie Lake provides good windsurfing opportunities.
The park also has two interpretive nature trails. Kettle Pond Trail starts at the amphitheatre behind site 1, while Meadow Trail starts near the entrance across from the information shelter. Together, about two kilometres of trail introduce a forest community typical of the Moyie Valley. Conservation values include vibrant riparian areas, pond and forest trails, beaver, muskrat, waterfowl, whitetail deer, woodland birds, and a kettle pond lake formed by a glacial depression.
Camp, swim at the sandy beach, launch a boat, paddle, windsurf, sail, fish for kokanee, burbot, and other species, ice fish in winter, walk interpretive trails, join seasonal Discover Parks programming, and watch birds and wildlife.
Mountain and lake weather can change rapidly, and high winds can rise quickly. There are no lifeguards. Quiet time is 11 pm to 7 am. Pets must be leashed and kept out of beach areas and buildings, bicycles must follow signs, and e-bikes are allowed only on signed or designated trails.
