Mount Seymour Park is 15 kilometres northeast of downtown Vancouver, with the entrance on Mount Seymour Road north of Mount Seymour Parkway in North Vancouver. BC Parks says it has been enjoyed for generations and offers viewpoints toward Vancouver, Mount Baker, Indian Arm, the Lower Mainland, and the Fraser Valley.

The closest communities are Deep Cove, North Vancouver, and Lynn Valley.

Why Visit Mount Seymour Park

Mount Seymour is a four-season Lower Mainland mountain park. There are 14 hiking trails, several lakes, day-use picnic areas, summer nature learning through Discover Parks, and extensive winter recreation. Lower mountain trails are heavily used by hikers and mountain bikers, while upper mountain trails are for hiking only.

Mt Seymour Resort operates skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, and tobogganing within an 81-hectare controlled recreation area. Winter backcountry up-tracks are installed seasonally, and the park has route information at kiosks. Conservation values include coastal western hemlock and mountain hemlock zones, old-growth Douglas fir and western red cedar below 1,000 metres, and subalpine meadows higher up.

Things To Do

Hike upper and lower trails, visit Deep Cove lookout, swim in park lakes, fish Elsay Lake with a licence, mountain bike designated lower trails, e-bike where signed, snowshoe or ski in winter, and use resort facilities with the required pass.

Planning Notes

Check trail conditions and avalanche forecasts before backcountry travel. Winter day-use parking passes may be required. Campfires are not allowed, overnight parkers should post emergency contact details, dogs are unsuitable for backcountry areas, and mountain bikes are prohibited on several named trails.
