Mount Geoffery Escarpment Park is on the southwest side of Hornby Island. BC Parks says the park was designated a Class A Provincial Park in 2004 and offers hiking and mountain biking on three main trails with spectacular views.
Reaching Hornby Island requires two short ferry rides from Vancouver Island through Denman Island. Hornby Island is the closest community.
The park is a trail-and-viewpoint destination on a dry, sensitive Gulf Islands landscape. Trails in the park, adjacent Mount Geoffrey Regional Nature Park, and nearby Crown land support walking, biking, and horseback riding, though some routes restrict horses or bikes and some adjacent trails cross private land.
The park also has beach access points along the Ford Cove Shingle Spit Trail for ocean swimming, paddling access from the beach, saltwater fishing nearby, and viewing platforms. Conservation values include steep coastal bluffs, forested benches, wetland, rugged shoreline, coastal Douglas-fir ecosystems, rare vegetation and wildlife species, groundwater protection, and sensitive ecosystems.
Hike cliff-edge trails, mountain bike where signed, ride horseback on permitted routes, swim from beach access points, paddle from the shoreline, fish in adjacent saltwater with the proper licence, use viewing platforms, and photograph Hornby Island scenery.
Many trails travel near cliffs and steep drop-offs, so stay well back from edges. Bring drinking water because potable water is not available. Park only in designated areas, respect private property, keep pets leashed, and be especially careful with fire in the dry Gulf Islands ecosystem.
