Morton Lake Park | British Columbia

Morton Lake Park is 27 kilometres northwest of Campbell River in the Sayward Forest. BC Parks says the easiest access is from Highway 19 to Menzies Main logging road, then Morton Lake Road to the park.

The park includes all of Morton Lake and a section of shoreline on neighbouring Mohun Lake.

Why Visit Morton Lake Park

Morton Lake is a lake-country campground for anglers, paddlers, swimmers, and families. BC Parks highlights lakefront camping, a boat launch, pit toilets, a large day-use area, and a sandy beach on warm Morton Lake.

The park also provides access to the Sayward Canoe Route, a 47-kilometre paddle and portage circuit reached through Mohun Lake. Fishing on Mohun Lake can be excellent from April to June and from September to October for Dolly Varden, rainbow, and cutthroat trout. A short trail from the campground leads to Andrew Lake in about 30 minutes. BC Parks also notes the area's 1938 fire and later Douglas fir replanting.

Things To Do

Camp by the lake, swim and picnic at the sandy beach, canoe or kayak Morton and Mohun lakes, launch a boat, fish with the proper licence and current regulations, hike to Andrew Lake, and use the park as an access point for the Sayward Canoe Route.

Planning Notes

There are no lifeguards. Pets must be leashed and kept out of beach areas and park buildings. Bicycles must stay on roadways, and e-bikes are not allowed on trails. Expect gravel-road access and check camping reservation information before peak-season trips.
