Mansons Landing Park | British Columbia

Mansons Landing Park is on Cortes Island in the northern Gulf Islands archipelago, fronting both Hague Lake and Manson Bay. BC Parks says the park was established in 1974 to expand the diversity of marine park experiences in the northern Gulf Islands.

The park is reached by ferry from Campbell River to Quadra Island, then from Quadra to Cortes Island, and by road from Seaford Road. Private boats may use the adjacent federal wharf when space is available.

Why Visit Mansons Landing Park

Mansons Landing is a day-use park with two very different water settings. Hague Lake has freshwater swimming, a sandy beach, pit toilets, an information shelter, and a small parking area. Mansons Lagoon offers marine wildlife viewing, beach walks, and paddling when the tide is high.

Short informal trails connect the park's day-use areas and nearby community features. BC Parks notes a roughly one-kilometre trail from the sand spit at Mansons Lagoon to the local school, plus another short route with steep sections from Hague Lake around the lagoon to the spit. Offshore waters have salmon, while Hague Lake contains cutthroat trout.

Things To Do

Swim in Hague Lake, swim in Mansons Lagoon at high tide, walk the sand spit and informal trails, canoe or kayak in Hague Lake or the lagoon, fish with the proper licence, and look for marine life such as oysters, clams, crabs, moon snails, and nudibranchs.

Planning Notes

Camping is not permitted, but Smelt Bay Park is nearby. Bring drinking water, expect no lifeguards, keep pets leashed and away from beaches and buildings, and check tides before paddling the lagoon.
