Little Qualicum Falls Park | British Columbia

Little Qualicum Falls Park straddles the Little Qualicum River on central Vancouver Island and includes part of the southern shore of Cameron Lake. BC Parks describes the park as a place of waterfalls, a rocky gorge, forested trails, and mountain views toward Mount Arrowsmith and the Beaufort Range.

The main campground and day-use areas are about 19 kilometres west of Parksville on Highway 4. Cameron Lake and Beaufort day-use areas sit farther west along the same highway.

Why Visit Little Qualicum Falls Park

The park is best known for its upper and lower falls, where the Little Qualicum River drops through a narrow gorge. A network of about six kilometres of walking trails links river viewpoints, forest, picnic areas, and the campground, making it a strong stop for families, day hikers, and road-trippers crossing Vancouver Island.

Cameron Lake adds a second style of visit. BC Parks lists swimming, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, waterskiing, scuba diving, and fishing there, while brown trout fishing is noted in the Little Qualicum River. The campground, picnic sites, and nearby day-use areas make the park useful for both short stops and longer stays.

Things To Do

Walk the waterfall trails, picnic near the river, camp in the forested campground, swim at Cameron Lake, paddle or windsurf on the lake, fish with the proper licence, and explore nearby Beaufort day-use viewpoints.

Planning Notes

Do not swim, boat, bridge jump, or cliff jump near the falls. River banks are slippery, there are no lifeguards, pets must be leashed, and bicycles and e-bikes are limited to roadways.
