Kootenay Lake Park includes several sites on and near Kootenay Lake, including Davis Creek, Lost Ledge, Midge Creek, Campbell Bay, and Coffee Creek. BC Parks says Davis Creek and Lost Ledge are on Highway 31 north of Kaslo, with Lost Ledge 25 kilometres north and Davis Creek 30 kilometres north.
Midge Creek is on the southwest shore of Kootenay Lake, 38 kilometres south of Balfour.
Kootenay Lake Park is a lake-camping base for visitors who want informal campsites, views, fishing, paddling, biking, and nearby Kaslo-area side trips. Davis Creek and Lost Ledge are described as picturesque campgrounds with lake views and shady, secluded campsites popular with anglers and families.
The lake supports canoeing and kayaking, with access from lakefront campsites or the Lost Ledge boat launch. BC Parks recommends shoreline paddling because unpredictable winds and sudden squalls can affect Kootenay Lake. Kootenay Lake Paddle Sports offers canoe, kayak, and paddle-board rentals from the beach at Davis Creek.
Fishing opportunities include kokanee, bull trout, and rainbow trout. Swimming happens at Davis Creek and Lost Ledge, but the water is considered cool to refreshing and beaches are pebbly with coarse rocks.
Plan around frontcountry camping, group camping, lake paddling, shoreline kayaking, angling, cool-water swimming, biking, nearby Kaslo outings, SS Moyie context, and scenic lake photography.
Lake weather can change rapidly, and spring squalls or high winds can arrive quickly. The park offers paid wireless internet through on-site park operators. Check fishing quotas.
