Jedediah Island Marine Park | British Columbia

Jedediah Island Marine Park lies between Lasqueti and Texada islands in the Strait of Georgia, off central Vancouver Island. BC Parks says it is one of the largest island parks in the province and the largest, most diverse island in a chain of more than 30 islands and rocky islets northwest of Lasqueti.

Access is by boat from nearby Lasqueti Island.

Why Visit Jedediah Island Marine Park

Jedediah Island Marine Park is a strong destination for boaters and kayakers who want island quiet, shoreline camping, and sheltered bays. The island interior includes forest ecosystems with mature Douglas fir and arbutus, rocky outcrops, old settlement evidence, meadows, sandy beaches, deep anchorages, coves, and rich marine surroundings.

Kayaking and wilderness camping are central to the park's appeal. BC Parks notes that some of the best camping areas are near the shoreline around Long Bay, with smaller bays on the east side offering more privacy during busy summer kayak touring periods.

The island also has about 3.5 kilometres of walking trails crossing the island and connecting secluded bays. Cultural heritage includes four registered archaeological sites, including an Indigenous fish weir.

Things To Do

Plan around kayaking, boating, wilderness camping, walking the island trails, swimming in sandy bays without designated swim areas, fishing where regulations allow, beach and cove exploration, and quiet marine wildlife viewing.

Planning Notes

Bring drinking water because potable water is not available. Rockfish Conservation Areas occur within the park, so check fishing rules before casting. Keep pets leashed and use established camping areas.
