Fillongley Park is a small north Denman Island park with an oceanfront campground, beach, walking trails, and homestead history. BC Parks says George Beadnell bequeathed the land to British Columbia after developing Fillongley into one of the Gulf Islands' most beautiful estates.
The park has ten campsites along the ocean, all reservable.
Fillongley is a quiet island camping and picnic destination with a sand and pebble beach, imported deciduous trees, spring wildflowers, fall colour, and old homestead traces. Access begins with the Denman Island Ferry from Buckley Bay on Vancouver Island.
BC Parks lists two kilometres of wheelchair-accessible walking trails. One short loop leads from the parking area through the field, while another follows Beadnell Creek canyon through second-growth forest and connects with Swan Road. Visitors can also see old-growth cedar forest, a salmon spawning stream, remains of the homestead, heritage trees, the former bowling green meadow, and George Beadnell's gravesite along the Homestead Trail.
Ocean swimming, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking from the beach, and saltwater fishing are available. Bicycles must stay on roadways, and e-bikes are not allowed on trails.
Plan around reservable oceanfront camping, picnicking, accessible walking trails, Beadnell Creek canyon, Homestead Trail history, beach swimming, windsurfing, paddling around Denman and Hornby Islands, saltwater fishing, and roadway cycling.
Reserve ahead, especially on weekends and in July and August. Have an alternate camping plan on Denman Island, leash pets, check fishing rules, and remember the nearest sani-stations are in Cumberland or Courtenay.
