Epsom Park is on the west bank of the Thompson River north of Spences Bridge, about 15 kilometres south of Ashcroft. BC Parks says the park provides access to the river and includes both river and upland habitats.
It is one of the few public-access points along this section of the Thompson River.
Epsom is a rugged river-access park for prepared visitors interested in fishing, short steep walks, river habitat, and Thompson Canyon scenery. BC Parks recommends walk-in access only, with any driving beyond the bench done at personal risk. Four-wheel drive is required, and the degraded lower road is impassable to two-wheel-drive vehicles below the last bench.
There are no designated trails. Visitors can park by the bench overlooking the river and hike the remaining road to the railway tracks, crossing only through the large culvert beneath the tracks to reach the shore.
Fishing opportunities include trout, salmon, and steelhead in the Thompson River. Canoeing and kayaking are possible, but BC Parks says visitors must understand the river's gradient before attempting navigation. A pebble beach may be present at low water in late July and August.
Plan around walk-in river access, short steep hiking, Thompson River fishing, low-water pebble beach visits, careful paddling research, river and upland habitat observation, photography, and seasonal hunting where permitted.
Bring drinking water, use backcountry sanitation, expect no toilets, no firewood, no fire rings, and no camping or day-use facilities. Watch swift river water, especially in June and July, and protect yourself from wood ticks between March and June.
