Eagle Bay Park is a boat-access BC Parks site on the east side of Kitimat Arm in Douglas Channel, about 25 kilometres south of Kitimat. BC Parks describes a partially sheltered anchorage, a gravel beach, and recreation opportunities that include beach walking, crabbing, and camping.
The nearest communities are Kitimat and Kitimaat Village.
Eagle Bay is for experienced coastal visitors planning a simple marine stop rather than a road-access day trip. The official page says access is by boat only and points boaters to Marine Chart 3743 for Douglas Channel and NTS Map Sheet 103 H/15 for Kitimat Arm.
The park's recreation list is water-oriented. Swimming is possible in the ocean, though BC Parks notes the water stays cold all season. Adventurous and experienced paddlers may explore the region by canoe or kayak, and scuba diving or snorkelling is possible. Hunting is allowed during open season under provincial regulations.
The park is within the traditional territory of the Haisla First Nation and contains culturally modified trees. BC Parks also notes remains of a Grumman Widgeon plane wreck on the beach and intertidal area at the south end of the bay.
Plan around boat-access anchoring, gravel-beach walking, crabbing, cold-water swimming, canoeing, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, salmon-creek awareness, waterfowl viewing, heritage respect, and seasonal hunting where permitted.
Do not rely on old mooring buoys, because BC Parks says the two former buoys at the south end of the bay were removed. Check marine weather, charts, wildlife safety, fishing rules, and hunting regulations before travelling.
