Duffey Lake Park is a BC Parks site on Duffey Lake Road, Highway 99, about 35 kilometres east of Pemberton and nearly midway to Lillooet. BC Parks says the park is centred on picturesque Duffey Lake and overlooked by Mount Rohr.
The park was established in 1993 and has a rough gravel boat launch.
Duffey Lake is a scenic Highway 99 stop for paddling, lake views, wildlife viewing, and self-directed backcountry travel. It sits on the Coast Mountain Circle Tour, a 700 kilometre automobile route from Vancouver that can take two to four days to explore.
Canoeing and kayaking are the main in-park activities, but BC Parks warns that wind can be strong on the lake. There are no formal trails, though backcountry hiking is permitted with leave-no-trace ethics. Fishing is possible, but the official page notes limited fish at the lake.
The park's conservation role is to protect a representative portion of the Leeward Pacific Ranges ecosection and important wildlife habitat, particularly for goats and bears. Wildlife may include mountain goats, grizzly bears, deer, black bears, osprey, and great blue heron.
Plan around scenic highway stops, canoeing, kayaking, rough boat-launch access, wildlife viewing, backcountry hiking without formal trails, limited fishing, Mount Rohr views, Coast Mountain Circle Tour travel, and low-impact photography.
Bring drinking water because potable water is not available. Expect strong lake winds, keep pets leashed and away from beach areas or buildings, follow leave-no-trace practices, and check weather, fishing rules, and Highway 99 conditions before travelling.
