Dixie Cove Marine Park is a boat-access BC Parks site on Hohoae Island in Kyuquot Sound, about 25 kilometres northwest of Zeballos on the west coast of Vancouver Island. BC Parks says it provides the best all-weather anchorage in Kyuquot Sound.
The park offers a scenic stopover with views of surrounding mountains.
Dixie Cove is a marine shelter for boaters exploring Kyuquot Sound, Rugged Point Marine Park, and nearby west coast waters. The wilderness area behind the anchorage contains old-growth rainforest.
There are two excellent anchorages in Dixie Cove. Boaters follow the narrow channel between Copp Island and Hohoae Island to reach the first anchorage. Farther west inside the channel is a more secluded cove that is more protected and shallower, with a mud bottom.
The calm, sheltered waters within Dixie Cove provide a quiet place for canoeing or kayaking. Fishing is permitted under provincial and federal rules, and there is ocean swimming without a designated swimming area.
The park is also a practical staging point for quiet Kyuquot Sound exploration.
Plan around all-weather anchorage, boat-based Kyuquot Sound travel, sheltered canoeing or kayaking, mountain views, old-growth rainforest backdrop, fishing under current regulations, ocean swimming without lifeguards, and nearby Rugged Point route planning.
Bring drinking water because potable water is not available. There is no boat launch in the park; BC Parks notes a launch at Fari Harbour. Use marine chart 3682 for Kyuquot Sound and confirm marine weather, wildlife safety, and fishing regulations before travel.
