Diana Lake Park is a BC Parks site 16 kilometres east of Prince Rupert on Highway 16, near Port Edward. BC Parks describes a lakefront park with sunbathing, swimming, canoeing, and a nature trail through lush coastal rainforest.
All five species of Pacific salmon, plus steelhead, rainbow trout, and Dolly Varden, can be found in lakes and creeks around the park.
Diana Lake is a compact water-oriented park for swimming, paddling, fishing, hiking, salmon viewing, and coastal rainforest time near Prince Rupert. The moderate nature trail is about three kilometres return and winds through lush coastal rainforest.
Swimming is available in Diana Lake, where the beach is a mixture of rock and sand and a dam sits beside the day-use area. Canoeing and kayaking are available, and BC Parks notes that sea kayak rentals are available in Prince Rupert.
Fishing is part of the park's appeal, especially because Diana Creek has spawning salmon viewing in August and September. Roadway cycling is allowed, but bikes are not permitted on the Diana Creek hiking trail.
Plan around lake swimming, sunbathing, the coastal rainforest nature trail, canoeing, kayaking, salmon and trout fishing, spawning salmon viewing in Diana Creek, roadway cycling, and low-impact lakeshore photography.
Drinking water is no longer provided, so bring your own or treat water before drinking. Pets are not permitted in the day-use area beside Diana Lake, bikes and e-bikes are not allowed on trails, and fishing requires current licences and regulations.
