Denetiah Corridor Protected Area | British Columbia

Denetiah Corridor Protected Area is a remote BC Parks protected area west of the Rocky Mountain Trench, about 160 kilometres upstream of Fort Ware along the Kechika River. BC Parks says there are no designated roads entering the area.

Access is by boat, air, foot, or horse along the Davie Trail from Lower Post.

Why Visit Denetiah Corridor Protected Area

Denetiah Corridor is for experienced backcountry travellers planning wilderness paddling, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, camping, wildlife viewing, and guided hunting or fishing trips. Fine-textured beaches at Denetiah and Dall Lakes provide canoeing, fishing, and camping opportunities.

The Kechika River is recognized by BC Parks as an outstanding special feature for wilderness float trips and wildlife viewing. A portion of the Davie Trail, which runs from Fort Ware to Lower Post, passes through the protected area near the Rocky Mountain Trench and is recommended only for experienced hikers or riders because of remoteness and hazards such as river crossings.

An extensive alpine plain southwest of Denetiah Lake offers hiking, horseback riding, wildlife, and scenery viewing in a remote wilderness setting.

Things To Do

Plan around remote Kechika River wilderness travel planning, Dall and Denetiah lake canoeing or kayaking, Davie Trail hiking, backcountry horseback riding, fishing, camping, wildlife and scenery viewing, and seasonal hunting.

Planning Notes

Bring drinking water or treatment, and prepare for all weather in a changeable climate. River access may involve a 250 kilometre boat trip from Skook's Landing near Fireside. Travel lightly in fragile alpine and subalpine areas.
