Dall River Old Growth Park is a remote BC Parks site in the Cassiar Mountains, adjacent to Denetiah Park along the Dall River downstream from Dall Lake. BC Parks places it about 300 kilometres west of Fort Nelson.
There are no roads; access is by air.
Dall River Old Growth Park is for backcountry visitors seeking old-growth white spruce, remote river travel, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, and wilderness scenery. BC Parks says stands of river-bottom old-growth white spruce dominate the landscape.
The park lies west of the Rocky Mountain Trench in the Cassiar Ranges ecosection and includes the valley bottom of the Dall River. Boreal white and black spruce is the listed biogeoclimatic zone. Wildlife values include important habitat for grizzly bear and furbearers, with Stone sheep common outside the park in nearby rugged alpine valleys.
Activities include hiking, remote wilderness canoeing or kayaking, fishing for bull trout, arctic grayling, whitefish, and northern pike, experienced backcountry horseback riding without designated trails, and hunting during open season. Most visitors are part of guided hunting or fishing trips.
Plan around fly-in wilderness travel, old-growth spruce observation, remote paddling, hiking, bull trout and grayling fishing, backcountry horseback riding, wildlife awareness, and seasonal hunting under current regulations.
Prepare for changeable weather, carry first aid, extra clothing, and extra food, and boil or filter all backcountry water. This is bear country, pets are not suitable for backcountry areas, and riders should be experienced in wilderness travel.
