Codville Lagoon Conservancy | British Columbia

Codville Lagoon Conservancy is a BC Parks conservancy on the central coast, about 15 kilometres southeast of Bella Bella and 50 kilometres southwest of Bella Coola. BC Parks says it was established as part of the government's land-use decision in the Central Coast planning area.

The conservancy is adjacent to Codville Lagoon Marine Park and includes portions of Sagar Lake.

Why Visit Codville Lagoon Conservancy

Codville Lagoon Conservancy is best planned with the neighbouring marine park and Sagar Lake in mind. BC Parks highlights Sagar Lake's red sand beaches as a popular visitor destination, while the conservancy adds protection around portions of that lake and the wider Codville Lagoon setting.

Visitor use here should remain light. The official page does not list developed campground facilities, marked day-use infrastructure, or a broad activity menu. It does give two important low-impact notes: blackwater discharge is unlawful when anchored within Codville Lagoon, and anyone camping near Sagar Lake's beaches should pack out all refuse and practise leave-no-trace camping.

Hunting is listed as an activity during open season, with current provincial regulations applying.

Things To Do

Plan around Sagar Lake beach time where access is appropriate, low-impact coastal camping near the beaches, map review, quiet nature observation, trip planning with nearby Codville Lagoon Marine Park, and seasonal hunting where permitted.

Planning Notes

Do not discharge blackwater while anchored in Codville Lagoon. Pack out all refuse, keep camps low impact, check current advisories and hunting rules, and prepare for a remote central coast conservancy without developed frontcountry services.
