Byers/Conroy/Harvey/Sinnett Islands Ecological Reserve is a BC Parks ecological reserve off Aristazabal Island in Hecate Strait, about 90 kilometres northwest of Bella Bella. BC Parks says it was established to protect nesting seabirds, raptorial birds, and marine environments.
The reserve lies in the Coastal Western Hemlock biogeoclimatic zone.
This island ecological reserve is for careful, non-destructive nature observation in a sensitive marine setting. BC Parks explains that ecological reserves protect special natural ecosystems and support research and education, not ordinary outdoor recreation.
The reserve is open to the public for non-destructive activities such as hiking, nature observation, and photography. Its terrestrial and marine ecosections are both listed as Queen Charlotte Sound, reinforcing its role as a coastal and marine habitat reserve.
Because nesting seabirds and raptorial birds are part of the protected values, visits should be quiet, restrained, and planned around minimizing disturbance. BC Parks provides a detailed reserve description for education and research, and research or educational activities require a permit.
The reserve's remote island location also makes weather, marine access, and wildlife safety important planning considerations.
Plan around marine nature observation, seabird and raptorial bird awareness from a respectful distance, photography, education-oriented visits, and low-impact travel that avoids disturbing nesting areas or shoreline habitat.
Consumptive activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, and foraging are prohibited, and motorized vehicles are not allowed. Use official maps only for general information, not legal boundaries or navigation.
