Burgoyne Bay Park | British Columbia

Burgoyne Bay Park is a BC Parks site on the west side of Salt Spring Island in the southern Gulf Islands, about halfway between Nanaimo and Victoria. BC Parks says it is adjacent to Mount Maxwell Park and Mount Maxwell Ecological Reserve.

Together with Mill Farm Regional Park Reserve, it helps form one of the largest protected-area blocks in the Gulf Islands.

Why Visit Burgoyne Bay Park

Burgoyne Bay is a low-impact recreation park with Gulf Islands views and important conservation values. BC Parks says the park protects several ecosystems at risk while giving visitors views of Burgoyne Bay, Mount Maxwell, and Baynes Peak.

The official activity list is focused and simple. Hiking is available, with trail information provided on the park map. Kayaking is supported by a kayak launch for rooftop boat access only; there is no ramp for boats on trailers, and vehicles must be moved to designated parking after launching.

BC Parks also notes an active partnership with Stqeeye' Learning Society on wetland restoration in Burgoyne Bay Park, so visitors may encounter ecological restoration work at various locations.

That restoration context makes staying on appropriate routes and respecting work areas part of the visit.

Things To Do

Plan around hiking, Burgoyne Bay viewpoints, Mount Maxwell and Baynes Peak scenery, rooftop kayak launching, quiet shoreline observation, restoration-area awareness, and leashed-pet walks.

Planning Notes

Pets must be leashed and under control. Overnight parking and camping are not permitted. There are no garbage facilities, so pack out everything you bring and watch for active ecological restoration work.
