Bulkley Junction Park | British Columbia

Bulkley Junction Park is a BC Parks site along the Skeena River, just south of where the Bulkley and Skeena rivers join. BC Parks describes it as a beautiful piece of land with unique vegetation, including a small area of Interior cedar and hemlock.

The park is directly across from Hazelton and is accessed by the Kitwanga Back Road.

Why Visit Bulkley Junction Park

Bulkley Junction is mainly about public river access. BC Parks says the park provides easy access to fishing opportunities on the Skeena River and is protected to allow public access to the confluence of the Skeena and Bulkley rivers for seasonal salmon fishing.

The setting also has natural and cultural context. The park protects part of the Nass Ranges ecosection and a riparian zone on the Skeena River's alluvial floodplain. It also includes a gently sloping glaciofluvial terrace, a possible freshwater spring along the northeast bank, and moose and bear habitat.

BC Parks places the park in the asserted traditional territory of the Gitxsan people, and notes that an old cart trail and possibly a grease trail may have passed through the area.

Things To Do

Plan around Skeena River fishing access, seasonal salmon fishing, canoeing or kayaking where river conditions allow, riparian habitat observation, pets on leash, cycling on roadways, hunting during open season, and quiet river photography.

Planning Notes

Use the Kitwanga Back Road from Kispiox Valley Road near the Skeena River bridge. Bring the required fishing licence, respect river hazards, keep pets controlled, and check fishing and hunting regulations before travelling.
