Why Visit Blue River Pine Park

Blue River Pine protects wetland and upland habitat on sandy fluvial-glacial soils along the lower stretches of Blue River. BC Parks says the park represents dry lodgepole pine forest type, which is uncommon in the North Thompson Valley.

The conservation note is the strongest reason to know this park. BC Parks says it contains Douglas fir and white pine, significant ground lichens, and a very unusual association of blueberry with lodgepole pine. Wild berries make the area noted summer habitat for black bear.

Activities listed by BC Parks include fishing, wildlife viewing, pets on leash, hunting during open season, and winter snowshoeing. Bird viewing opportunities are available, though there is no viewing platform.

Because the page does not list camping or day-use facilities, visitors should plan this as a low-service nature and winter-use site rather than a developed campground stop.

Things To Do

Plan around fishing, bird viewing, hunting in season, winter snowshoeing, lodgepole pine and blueberry habitat awareness, wetland and upland observation, lichen study, and low-impact nature photography.

Planning Notes

Confirm access, winter conditions, fishing rules, hunting seasons, licences, pet requirements, maps, fire conditions, wildlife safety, and BC Parks updates before travelling.
