Blue Earth Lake Park is a BC Parks site in the Thompson region, 30 kilometres southwest of Cache Creek. BC Parks says it is accessed by gravel road from the Trans-Canada Highway north of Spences Bridge via Venables Valley Road.
Visitors need a backcountry road map because clearcuts and logging roads can make navigation confusing.
Blue Earth Lake is a geologically interesting park with rustic camping, fishing, nature appreciation, small-lake paddling, wetlands, riparian areas, upland forest, and Pavilion Mountain context. BC Parks says the park has lakes, wetlands, and riparian areas in a deep valley with significant value for songbirds and waterfowl.
The park has no developed trails, though paths follow the lakeshore and visitors may walk roads with caution. Canoeing and kayaking are popular because the lakes are small. Blue Earth Lake is popular for trout fishing, and a stream used by spawning trout connects the lakes.
The conservation section notes small areas of old-growth Douglas fir and mature aspen, plus geological interest where Marble Canyon limestones meet the volcanism of the Spences Bridge group.
Plan around rustic camping, trout fishing, canoeing, kayaking, lakeshore walking, road walking with caution, songbird and waterfowl observation, geological interpretation, mountain biking on logging roads, and hunting in season.
The road has tight corners and long trailers are problematic. The rough boat launch suits small trailer boats and car-toppers only. Treat drinking water, avoid muddy reed-edged swimming areas, and check BC Parks updates.
