Blanket Creek Park is a BC Parks site 25 kilometres south of Revelstoke on Highway 23, where Blanket Creek flows into the Columbia River just north of Upper Arrow Lake. BC Parks says it is a 15 minute drive from Revelstoke.
The park was originally a farm and is now a family recreation destination.
Blanket Creek is a family camping and day-use park with a warm man-made swimming lagoon, adventure playground, historic homestead site, and easy access to Sutherland Falls. BC Parks says it is one of four provincial parks on the Arrow Lake Reservoir and works well as a staging area for nearby recreation.
The park has several short walks. A trail under one kilometre reaches the foot of 12 metre Sutherland Falls. Another two kilometre hike from the campground passes old cedar forest, springboard-notched stumps, a deep inlet, and the old homestead site. A 10 minute trail links the campground with the picnic area and swimming lagoon.
The circular swimming lagoon is about 60 metres across and 2.5 metres deep in the middle, with a sandy beach and warmer water. Canoes and kayaks can be launched after a short 200 metre portage from the day-use parking lot.
Plan around frontcountry camping, group camping, lagoon swimming, Sutherland Falls photography, homestead walks, Columbia River strolling, paddling, lake and stream fishing nearby, birdwatching, and Revelstoke-area side trips.
Bears are drawn to remaining orchard fruit trees, especially in fall. Keep a clean camp, leash pets, note there is no roped-off swimming area or lifeguard, and check reservations, generator rules, and BC Parks updates.
