Bedard Aspen Park is a BC Parks site in the Thompson region, 40 kilometres west of Cache Creek. BC Parks says access uses Highway 97, Highway 99, Hat Creek Road, Road 463, and logging roads, and recommends a BC backroads map because there are many logging roads in the area.
There is no road access to the lake.
Check access.
Bedard Aspen is a low-facility, biologically diverse park with trail access, a small lake, aspen, Douglas fir, grassland, and fishing. BC Parks says the park represents aspen, Douglas fir, and grassland associations and contributes to representation of the Pavilion Range Ecosections.
No camping or day-use facilities are provided. The activity list includes hiking, fishing, pets on leash, hunting during open season, bird watching, and nature appreciation. One trail provides access to the lake in about five minutes, while lower ridges provide easy walking. Rainbow trout are present in the lake.
The conservation story is the main draw. BC Parks says Bedard Lake is perched above a large area of slope instability, and the combination of small lake, insects and crustaceans, deciduous forest, and distinctive landforms creates high biological diversity.
Plan around the short lake-access trail, lower-ridge walking, rainbow trout fishing, hunting in season, bird watching, aspen and willow observation, grassland and landform photography, and backroads navigation.
There are no camping or day-use facilities. Confirm logging-road access, maps, fishing rules, hunting seasons, licences, fire conditions, weather, and BC Parks updates before travelling.
