Beaver Creek Park is a BC Parks site in the Kootenay region, seven kilometres south of Trail on Old Waneta Road, or Highway 22A. BC Parks says the closest communities are Trail, Castlegar, Montrose, and Fruitvale.
The park is a popular local recreation area with vehicle-accessible camping and nature trails.
Beaver Creek is a practical Columbia River campground and nature stop. BC Parks says it protects habitat for wildlife and vegetation, including some rare and endangered species, while sitting beside residential lands and the Trail Airport.
The main walking trail starts at the south end of the campground and follows the Columbia River bank for about one kilometre. BC Parks describes it as a level terrace above the river through open grasslands and a popular walk for local nature enthusiasts.
Fishing is another reason to visit. Rainbow trout and walleye are common in the Columbia River section through the park, whitefish are present, and brook trout are found in Beaver Creek. Canoeing and kayaking on this part of the Columbia should only be attempted by people with extensive experience because of the river's size and swift current.
Plan around vehicle-accessible camping, the one kilometre Columbia River trail, wildlife viewing from river viewpoints, fishing, experienced-only paddling, road cycling, and a quiet local nature stop.
Keep bikes to roadways and off trails. Pets must be leashed and are not allowed in the day-use area. Confirm campground availability, river conditions, fishing rules, trail status, and BC Parks updates before travelling.
