Beaumont Park | British Columbia

Beaumont Park is a BC Parks site in the Omineca region, on the southeastern shore of Fraser Lake. BC Parks places it 134 kilometres west of Prince George on Highway 16, with Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake, and Fort Fraser nearby.

The park lies within the Nechako Plateau, bordered to the west and north by the Hazelton, Skeena, and Omineca mountains.

Why Visit Beaumont Park

Beaumont is a lakefront camping and beach park with a sandy swimming area, water activities, and a strong historical setting. BC Parks says the park now offers walk-in sites with beach access, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table.

Activities include a self-guided interpretive trail with eight signs on plants, animals, and area history, a roped-off swimming area at the beach and picnic area, canoeing and kayaking, fishing for burbot, char, rainbow trout and kokanee, wildlife viewing at the marsh, roadway cycling, waterskiing, and windsurfing.

The park also occupies the site of historic Fort Fraser, established by Simon Fraser in 1806. BC Parks notes that Indigenous Peoples used well-travelled trails here before explorers and fur traders moved between Fort Fraser, Fort McLeod, and Fort St. James.

Things To Do

Plan around beach camping, walk-in sites, swimming, paddling, Fraser Lake fishing, windsurfing, waterskiing, the interpretive trail, marsh birding, beaver activity, and Fort Fraser history.

Planning Notes

Fraser Lake can develop dangerous whitecaps in sudden heavy winds. Watch children closely because there are no lifeguards and an abrupt drop-off is marked by floats. Do not disturb Western Thatch Ant nests, and check BC Parks updates.
