Redwater Provincial Recreation Area is an Alberta Parks recreation area in the Central region, 10 kilometres east of Redwater. Alberta Parks lists no developed day-use area count and no campground.
The official page says OHV restrictions are in effect when a local municipal OHV ban is implemented.
Redwater is a day-use recreation area with sandy soils, aspen forest, and trails popular with local OHV and equestrian users. Alberta Parks says the park is close to the North Saskatchewan River, but there is no river access or river view from the park.
Activities include front-country hiking, hunting, on-site OHV riding, on-site snowmobiling, and geocaching. OHV riding is on designated trails only. A small staging area and parking lot are on Range Road 205 just south of Township Road 574, with a larger staging area nearby that includes truck and trailer parking and a vault or pit toilet.
Rules are important here. Fires are prohibited, target shooting is prohibited, and firearms discharge permits are required for hunting. Redwater is day use only, and overnight stays are not permitted. Collection or burning of deadfall and removal of plants or mushrooms are prohibited.
Alberta Parks also notes that a 2025 wildfire affected park access and trails, so visitors should follow advisories and signage.
Plan around designated OHV trails, snowmobiling where permitted, front-country hiking, geocaching, hunting permit checks, Range Road 205 staging, and post-wildfire trail updates.
Confirm fire bans, municipal OHV restrictions, designated-trail rules, firearm permits, no-overnight rules, maps, weather, signage, and Alberta Parks updates.
